UPCOMING EVENTS AT RAINBOW RANCH
Trailer Trash / Trash Disco - April 19th
- Decorate your RV / Tent site
for our contest then attend the Trash Disco in the pavilion Saturday night. Come check out
all of the lights, listen to the great music and dance the night away . Please remember all
decorations need to be taken home with you when you leave at the end of your visit. This
event seems to grow in popularity each year and many of our guests now appear dressed in
character! It's great fun.
Cinco de Mayo - May 3rd - Join the fun at Rainbow Ranch to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at
our Mexican Fiesta. Decorate your campsite Mexican style and be sure to bring your
sombrero. If you don't have a sombrero then wear your best Kentucky Derby hat as we will
be celebrating both events this weekend. Make your favorite Mexican dish and bring it to the
potluck at the Mexican Fiesta site. We will have our traditional piñata full of goodies hanging
for the party goers to crack open. There are prizes inside for kids of ALL ages. This
weekend will also mark the 12th anniversary of Rainbow Ranch opening it's gates!
Bear Round Up - May 16th - 18th - Grab your friends and come on down to Rainbow
Ranch for the 2nd Annual Bear Round Up at Rainbow Ranch. We will have a weekend full
of great food and fun so be sure and book your reservations now and come down early. Be
sure to grab your list of events when you check in the office so you don't miss any of the
activities. Friday night we will kick everything off at 8:00 PM with our kegger meet and greet
sponsored by our own bears of the ranch, Mark and Brian.
Memorial Day Weekend / Show - May 23rd - 25th - This year marks the 10th Anniversary
of the Rainbow Ranch Memorial Day Drag Show! Come and join us for all of the fun! This
show is always a spectacular event. The show will be on Saturday night followed by our
Memorial Day BBQ Potluck on Sunday afternoon. For those of you planning on being a part
of the show, please note all entries need to be submitted to info@rainbowranch.net no later
than the end of April (THIS MONTH!). To give everyone an opportunity to perform, each
performer will be limited to two numbers (group or individual). Be sure to bring everything
you will need (outfit, wig, CD of music, and any special props).
2008 Life Walk - Let's keep the momentum going!
Looking to join our team but happy with your current job? Then please join our fundraising
team and help raise money for a worthy cause!
Last year our team ranked second place! In 2008 we want to shoot for #1! To reach this
goal, we need your help! Only through your generosity and by spreading the word is this
goal going to be possible.
AIDS Arms, Inc. is the beneficiary of the 2008 Life Walk. Their purpose is to assist
individuals in accessing the healthcare, resources and support necessary to successfully
manage the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS.
As an incentive to participate and as an expression of our gratitude for your past support, we
are again going to schedule some great fundraising events at the ranch throughout the year.
As each year passes, we continue to grow in our personal and professional lives, and we
make decisions that guide us in the directions our lives take. Over the past three years the
ranch has experienced a tremendous amount of growth. Your part in this is not lost with us.
Our ranch family consists of many men and women, couples and singles, RV'rs and
tenters, and permanent and weekend campers. A few of our family members live with HIV /
AIDS every day. Be it through a partner, an extended family member, coworker, friend,
customer, or even they themselves, they are forced to confront this virus on a daily basis.
In appreciation for our continuing growth, we want to further expand our efforts to give back
to the communities who have given so much to us. In the past years we have supported
several nonprofits by donating free weekends for their silent auctions or to be used as give-
a-ways/door prizes. This is a practice we will continue for what we hope will be many years
to come. But we want to do more.
We recognize that none of us are "made of money". For some of us times may be very
tight. All of us, however, can spare a little time to help our community.
HERE ARE A FEW INCENTIVES!
We believe in being fair to ALL of our campers so we have an incentive for our non-
permanent campers as well. For each $25 donated through this same page we will enter the
donors name into a drawing to win a free weekend stay in one of our cabins!
For anyone who chooses to join our team by creating their own page and
successfully raises at least $100 or donates through our page
www.firstgiving.com/rainbowranchcampground at least $100, we will enter the
donors name into a drawing to win a free weekend stay in the newest addition to the ranch's
list of accommodations, the large house rental. This house can sleep up to 15 people and
offers the perfect accommodations for groups of all sizes.
Drawing will be in October, but don't wait! Make your donation now!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way
to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think
might want to donate too!
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE!
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we are pleased to announce the very anticipated
opening of the latest 50 RV sites! Many of you have been eagerly waiting for these sites to
open and to you we say.... "Come on down!" With the many expansions we have had over
the past 3 years such as the purchase of adjoining property which included a four bedroom
house available for rent to our campers, the installation of a 100 ft. pier, completion of the
rental cabins, the addition of our pavilion with many amenities, we are just as excited about
this expansion as we have been with all of the others. This latest expansion allows us to
accommodate many more of our guests and helps minimize the waiting list for several of
our events.
With the forecast of gas rising above $4 a gallon, a number of people realize the cost
savings of leaving their RV's here at the ranch thus saving them both time and money. So
come visit us and experience for yourself all of the changes and keep in mind... "we are
only getting started!" We hope to see you all very soon and again thank you for allowing us
the opportunity to serve you.
IN REVIEW
St. Patrick's Day Weekend - The luck of the Irish surely was shinin' on de ol' ranch this St.
Patrick's weekend. The ranch hosted a meet and greet Friday night with some delicious
green beer. We sure are glad the beer companies started selling it again as St. Patrick's
Day just wouldn't be the same without our green beer party. Saturday afternoon, we had a
pot-luck dinner and celebrated the night away with fun, games, more beer, and camaraderie
throughout the evening. For those who joined us this year, thanks for making it such a fun
weekend.
Easter Celebration / LIVE BAND! - Is it just me or is this year already flying by? It seems
as though it was just yesterday that we had the one and only Laurel (and band) grace our
stage for our Easter celebration. Many of our campers opted to listen to the music from their
own sites, but for those who wandered on down to the stage they got to see the "real" show
as the band really worked the crowd. Saturday afternoon we had our Annual Easter Bonnet
contest and pooch parade. This years competition was really fierce and we had a number
of people bring their four legged friends along. Congratulations to all of our winners this
year. A special congratulations to Shirley who won her 3rd year in a row! She really knows
how to wow our judges over the past years with her candy bonnet, jello shot bonnet, and
with this year's bonnet being an edible cake! She won $100 for first prize!
Toga Party / Survivor Challenge Weekend - Always looking to make your time here at the
ranch even more enjoyable, we combined two of our great events into one action packed
weekend! Saturday started off as we divided our Survivor participants into two teams. We
played numerous kooky and quirky games throughout the afternoon. It was a close race,
but in the end the Blue Team nudged out the red. Of course, only one person can win, and
Leslie rose to the occasion and became the overall Survivor Champaign of 2008. Later
Saturday evening everyone donned their best linens and came to the Annual Toga Party.
We had a large a number of people from Austin, Houston, and DFW that participated in the
evening's events. There were many elaborate and / or beautiful togas on display and we
would like to thank everyone who participated and helped make this such a great weekend
for us all.
